Background

MAREMA, formerly known as MAREEM, was established as a unified platform to support and advocate for Registered Energy Managers (REMs) and Registered Energy Auditors (REAs). This association addresses key concerns and challenges faced by these practitioners and professionals who play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective enforcement of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2024 as one of the key enablers to achieve the Net Zero Target by 2050 via energy efficiency in the Energy Transition.

Officially registered on 14th March 2016, MAREMA is dedicated to representing its members’ interests while promoting collaboration with regulators and stakeholders involved in facilities impacted by the EECA 2024. With a strong commitment to supporting the nation’s industries and government, MAREMA actively contributes to advancing energy efficiency, fostering sustainable practices, and ensuring the successful enforcement of the EECA 2024 . Through professional development initiatives, policy advocacy, and strategic partnerships, MAREMA aims to be a cornerstone in Malaysia’s energy efficiency journey.

Constitutional Goals
  • To develop, introduce & promote guidelines for best practices and code of ethics in providing energy management services as a reference point in Malaysia and regional markets
  • To promote and raise awareness of the roles and responsibilities as energy managers that can be played  in all sectors
  • Promote the upgrading of skills and knowledge of its members
  • To collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the various sectors to develop, expand and explore the potentials for energy managers in EE industry
  • Keeping the welfare of its members and create healthy competition among members through professional services with integrity
  • To assist directly and indirectly in terms of professional inputs and feedback in the planning and implementation of policies related to energy, initiatives and programs at the national level

Mission Statement

Be the preferred avenue to develop and enhance energy managers’ and energy auditors’ ability and competencies ,thus ensuring effective implementation of energy efficiency policies and programs related to energy management.

Contributing at the national level, energy efficiency initiatives to achieve Malaysia’s carbon neutrality target by 2050.
